Welcome to Smells Like Science! My name is Dan Bailey and I write this blog. It’s about, well, science. But not just the kind of science that happens in secluded labs under the careful supervision of men and women in white coats. It’s also about the science that’s around us every day, in our kitchens, our back yards, our medicine cabinets.

I started this blog in 2010 as a way to continue learning new stuff after I graduated from college and got a real job as a process chemist at a pharmaceutical company. My background is mainly in chemistry and anthropology, but I’m interested in all sorts of different subjects. I write about anything that piques my curiosity and I do my best to write in a way that’s interesting and accessible to a wide range of people.

So I hope you’ll stay for a while and take a look around.
